These two ladies in downtown Spokane were raising money to pay funeral expenses for a loved one who died.
This is where the love comes in. These two ladies needed $8,000 and needed it soon. They took the matter to the Lord, then got to work. But they didn't start begging. Instead, they set up a booth in the corner of a Staples parking lot and offered free goodies to anyone passing by, whether on foot or in a car. They offered homemade candies, a cup of street corn, a bag of chips, a cold drink, an encouraging word, and a smile to anyone who stopped.
Their signs mentioned the need, but they didn't ask for money. They gave without strings. If anyone inquired about the funeral fund, as I did, they explained their situation.
I mentioned that more money would come in if they asked for donations or charged for the product. They responded that after praying, they felt compelled to give freely, and trust the Lord for provision. So that's exactly what they did.
Though their need was great, they chose to bless the world instead of being a burden upon it. I don't know if their need was ever met because I never saw them again, but I know this - they demonstrated to a needy world what love is, and I'm blessed to have met them.
